I have a 2000 Firebird and I was checking oil and washer fluid. When I closed the hood it was hard shutting and I noticed the handle on the hood latch was bent. Has anyone else had this happen? I bent it back and it's ok now. I jus wonder if it bent itslef or if someone tried getting under the hood. Also sometimes when I back up I hear a scrapping sound. Sounds like it's coming from the front end. Anyone have a clue what it could be? Another thing, in my book it says in the winter to use something called dielectric lube on the t-top seals. I looked for it but couldn't find it anywhere. Anyone know anything else I could use and do you have to do that? Every tells me the car wont be too good on the roads when the snow hits. It's my 1st rear wheel drive. Anyone have trouble getting places?

never had a hood latch bend, so I cannot comment on that. The scape from the front end you hear is likely the air deflector rubbing against a curb. Often people don't hear the initial contact when pulling foreward, but you usually hear it backing up.
Dielectric grease is available at auto parts stores..... it's a special non coductive grease used in electrical applications, ie; spark plug boots for example..... it keeps the voltage leak at a minimum and keeps the botts from sticking to the plugs. Zaino is my first choice but the dielectric grease would work.
