  • Spark Plug Replacement Survey

I just wanted an idea when most Camaro/Firebirds got their spark plugs changed. When was it done mileage wise and was it for an upgrade or maintenance? My 2000 Camaro has 78,000 miles with the original ones still on. The car runs great, but starting to notice fuel economy has gone down a little. I would appreciate all your replies! Thanks!

the plugs/wires were bad on my 97 camaro w/ 98k on the clock
i switched the plugs/wires on my 98 Z28 with 95K on the clock, however they will still useable.
the ones in my 94 formula seem to be running well still, 82k on the clock. However they will come out when it gets nice out.

My plugs and wires lasted 108K miles. That's 8K miles longer than the recommended factory replacement.

I replaced the plugs in my 93 Z28 at roughly 50K. The platinum tip melted or somehow came off of one of the plugs. This opened up the gap enough that the engine started to misfire. The other 7 plugs still looked ok. I replaced the spark plug wires at 70K due to an arcing plug wire.

I replaced my stock plugs with Iridium NGK's at 80k. It was running ok at the time though.

            Spark Plug Replacement

Thanks for your feedback. I think I will hold off a little longer. The car is running fine, and I can't believe the miles the car has. Once again, thanks!
