  • LT1 loose hoose from AIR

I have a 97 z28 and found a loose hose. One end is connected to the AIR bleed valve. Does anyone know where the other end connects?

As usual, Shoebox has the answer. It may depend on whether your 97 has had the AIR recall work done on it.

Yes I saw this earlier but his dwg does not show where the other end of the line connects. Does GM have a diagram of the vac lines, similar to a wiring diagram?

Yes it does. The diagram in the upper left hand corner clearly shows both ends. The top end goes to the valve, the bottom attaches to the two connection harness connector. ( the bleed valve harness is being pointed out in the daigram), that's the other end. That clips to the actuator that resides at the bottom of the large vertical air tube. All three upper diagrams clearly show the hose that you are referring to.

The only difference between the diagram and mine is that my valve is positioned vertically instead of the horizontal as in the picture. The rubber hose has a slightly different routing, it takes an immediate bend downward from the metal tube. Note both ends in the pic below, the hose end on the left goes to the black/white inline valve, the other end goes the underside of the actuator on the right.

          Joe 1320 one more ?

Joe, Thanks for the explanation and your photo. I think I am beginning to understand. Take a look at my latest photo. I bought this car in Oct and it looks like it has already had the recall work done as evidence by round plastic thing plus I see vac solenoid(not in photo), do you agree ? From shoebox steps looks like the black/white inline valve has already been removed in mine thus I have nowhere to connect the hose end. So am I right to say that whoever did the recall should have removed the old actuator and this loose hose completely from the engine since shoebox's next to last pic doesn't have it re installed in in the lower left (plus the actuator is gone in his pic)? Thanks again.. I tried to get help on z28.com but responses were limited plus at least another guy there has the same loose hose.

By the looks of the recall parts listing, it appears as though the original valve and actuator are bypassed. If you look at the bottom row of drawings, you'll see the new shutoff valve, a new vacuum actuator and the new vacuum source that you "T" into in order to operate the solenoid. It certainly appears as though the old actuator and vacuum line will be rendered useless. Before we get any further, I'm going to check on that very fact and post the results.
