  • Shock setup with Eibach Sportlines

I'm deciding on the kyb gr2 or the agx setup. I dont mind firmness and the roads here in Florida are really flat. maybe the gr2's up front and the agx in the rear? I know it's going to be firm and low either way. I don't do alot of drag racing at all. It's a daily driver car. maybe a few road trips. Does anyone have any of these as setup on an f body?

    thanks

You get what you pay for! Cheap shox are just that, cheap shox. To deal with the shorter stiffer springs you need a shock built to handle them. Give Sam Strano a call, he can custom design (a revalved) Bilstein shock for your specific application without breaking the bank.

I have the GR2's on my 3rd gen and I can tell you that they are a step away from garbage when it comes to performance. The GR2's are actually a pretty soft shock designed for stock springs & a smooth ride. They arent stiff enough to handle my ProKit, so im sure they wont be able to handle your Sportlines. I would look into something else. The factory Bilstiens should give you a better package than those GR2's. I am upgrading to Koni Reds ASAP.

As far as the AGX's... I cant tell you much. I have no expirence with them.

Do you have to get relocation brackets with the sprtlines? (they are about 2 inch drop)
I ve got a set of sportlines in the box, and i am still debating whether to install them on the 95 formula or not

The choice is easy...stick with Koni. Bilsteins (revalved by Sam) aren't bad, but the warranty is short. Koni's, while a bit pricey, are built like a tank and come with a lifetime warranty. Since they are adjustable, you can find a setting you can live with...full firm to full soft.

All other shocks are not much better than a take-off set of DeCarbon's. Even the standard Bilstein HD are sub par. They used to be better, but Bilstein revalved them to make them even softer in the rear. For the money...Koni's are hard to argue with.

Ok Thanks, so Where is the best place (and price) to get Koni's or Bilsteins?
can I get used? this car has over 200,000 miles I just dont know how long it will last! I have 3 other cars so time is not a problem.

                Will this work?

                http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-02...spagenameZWDVW

Then I have to get them revalved?

                Thanks

Well....... I'm gonna say something you probably won't like. I've ridden in several cars with brand "E" springs and even here in Florida, they rode like crap. I couldn't blame the shocks, in some cases they were top dollar adjustable. The common element was the springs. So I'm not a fan of Eibachs at all. Firmness is one thing, harshness is another.

                    I agree...100%.

Your best bet, stick with the stock springs, saving the extra money for Koni adjustable. For a bit of an upgraded spring, you could get the 1LE springs pretty cheap. But, in all honesty, the shocks will make 95% of the difference. As an added bonus, you can even lower the ride height 1/2 inch with the Koni's.

ok, well I guess I'll ditch the sportlines before I install them, I bought them used anyway. So if I'm going to replace the shocks, will those Bilsteins work on that link? Price is an isuue here, since it's my 3rd car in my daily driver lineup. I'm just looking to keep it stock or a tad better

The "old" Bilsteins work better than the "new" ones. Not sure when they rediesigned them (maybe last year?) but the new rear ratings are junk. If the one's for sale are new shocks (never been used) and the old valving, you will be happy with them. Not quite Koni, but still better than De Carbons.
