  • Help please audio folks

Ok folks I got a new deck from my girlfriend 4 Christmas and I'm wondering if the stock speakers in my bird can handle it or if I should get some new speakers before installing it.

    The deck is a 50W x 4 max pioneer

My bird is a 97 V6 with the factory Cd player that has the EQ on it

    Thanks for any help guys
    Beau

The stock speakers will work fine for a while, as long as it is NOT Bose or Monsoon. You're going to want to replace them eventually anyway, so you might as well start looking around at what you want to buy.

Well I can tell you it's definately not the monsoon or the bose, I'm thinking maybe I'll just put new speakers in and run an amp

      Thanks again

I've had the worst experience with the Monsoon system speakers. This system was in 97+ models. I'm not sure about the standard system on V6 cars, but it sounds like yours may be Monsoon. Just using the stock deck, I've replaced both sets of front speakers and am getting ready to replace the "bass" midrange speakers next to the rear seats.

There is some good info to be had at ls1tech.com. They have a FAQ on the Monsoon system that could be helpful. It's on the Stereo board.

As long as you dont crank it up alot, the stock speakers will handle the new headunit for a long time. If you like to listen to it loud like me... Plan on new speakers in about 6 months or so.

Sony - Cheap for a reason
Pioneer - Middle of the road
Boston Acustic - Good, but you pay for it
Alpine - Somewhere between Pioneer & Boston

When it comes to car audio, all manufacturers have there good stuff & there bad stuff. Usually the price tag is a good way of telling which you are getting. As far as pricing, local stores have around a 100% mark-up on car audio. BUY YOUR STUFF ONLINE. You will get everything MUCH cheaper. If you want, you can go to the store and listen to the speakers before you buy them online.

I have some experience in this and I have tried Infinitiys, Pioneers, Alpines, and a handful of other ones. The ones I ran when I Fab'ed up the system in My old Honda were, "Everything Kicker!" Im a Kicker fan and I have to say, If your looking for some ear splitting sound at a reasonable price a Nice component set From Kicker will do the Trick. They Run from $80-$120. I must say, They were some of the best speakers I had ever used. I Was running the Comp. Set up front and some 4" 1/2 in the rear and that thing would literaly hurt your ears. But it ur looking for simple Low volume and great sound you cant beat a Component set From Diamond. They run like $300 but they are amazing in sound. It all depends on how much you wanna spend.
