  • want stickier tires

I did the t-56 swap, and now I spin first and second which was fun at first but after a while I came to the conclusion that it gets you nowhere. I want to upgrade tires. I was looking at Drag radials but I sorta want some cornering. I have 17 x 9.5 TTII and want traction on the street I am now running 275/40ZR17 BFG g-force KDWS all 4 and I know any max performance tire is better but I thought I would ask for experience.

Lose the KDWS if you can stand a little decreased wet traction and go with the KD. It's a much better tire in the dry.

I've been pretty happy with the Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals. The KDWs (not the KDWSs) would be better. I know 2 people with the KDWSs and both are not very good for traction wet or dry.

I never drive in any weather but dry and warm conditions. I've heard bad reviews on the KD's -noisey, don't last long for the price $243.00 per tire
that was the tire I was leaning towards before I posted but after reading reviews I was alittle skeptical.

Well..... sticky and long life are generally not included in the same description. usually the harder the tire, the longer the life. Take a drag radial for example. Extra sticky, not a very long life when compared to a regular street radial. I was a fan of the Firestone Firehawk SZ-50s until they went away. Their grip when new was strong, but that decreased considerably after the tread was 1/2 worn. You might want to look into those Firestone wide ovals, they are a newer replacement for the SZ-50.

I've been running Wide Ovals for over a year now. I picked them up after running 2 sets of Firehawk SZ-50's. For a performance summer tire they have decent ride and are quite quiet. They grip very well, but I have no problem burning out with a 3.42 rear and 6-speed if I want to.

If you drive it around town regularly, want an affordable performance tire that's easy to live with, and decent tread life, than I'd recommend the Wide Oval. I hear they're on sale now?!? Check tirerack.com. It will definitely be a noticable improvement over your current all season tires.

On the other hand if you want all out performance, don't care so much about tread life and tread noise, than you can probably do better. It'll cost you though.
