I have about 600 miles on the new 383.Everything has been going great but this evening i had a problem.I was downshifting at normal speeds and with the clutch in in could hear a growl/squeal noise but after i released the clutch it was gone. The clutch works fine and all the gears do too.I tried it when i got home and found the noise present any time the clutch is pressed in, even makes the noise in neutral but as soon as i let out on the clutch it is gone.Ive read and it seems the pilot bushing may be bad???? The engine had a new bushing in it when i got it and it was new.My clutch has about 3000 miles and looked good.Ive always ran the pilot bearing before with no problems but i was wondering what you guys thought or i may be on the wrong track altogether??? Let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Yep...I second that. I had to replace my throw-out bearing on my Z24 years ago after it started doing the same thing. Trouble is, it takes so much effort to get to it, it's easier to do the clutch at the same time.Al 96 Ram Air T/A

It sounds like the throw out is the problem.I cannot find a throw out bearing for my centerforce dual friction clutch though.I was thinking that maybe it isnt replaceable in a centerforce kit but i hope im wrong. If anyone knows let me know, i sure hate to spend another $600.00 on a clutch, this one has very low miles on it.Thanks for all the help so far.!95 trans am, golen engine 383 ,140k,6spd, procharger 12psi supercharger, racetronix fuel pump, 58mm BBK throttlebody, hooker long tubes, crane HI6-DSR ignition box, crane ps-92 ignition coil ,true duals, 60lb injectors,3.73 GM gears, csr electric water pump, edelbrock strut tower brace, descreened maf,ls1 aluminum drive shaft, centerforce clutch, accel extreme heat wires,lt4 knock sensor, autolite 104s ,hurst short throw shifter,8-01-05- 02 frt end and taillights,ws6 rims, shiny black paint job!!.

I just recently replaced my Stock Clutch out and Put a New Stage 1 From SPEC. Everything went in good, but when I went to start it. This weird Squel/rattle came from Under the car. It would make that same noise every time the car was Not In gear or Everytime I Pressed the clutch to change gears. Well I drove it around the block, nothing happened, still made the noise. So At this point I was at the point that I thought I was going to have to drop the trans again. So the next day I drive it to work and by the time I got to work (about 3 miles city, 17 highway) the noise was gone. So Im guessing the Throw-out bearing was just getting broken in. I know this is irrelevant but just a little story. I believe Jegs sells the Throwout bearing for the DF clutch from CF. If it was the pilot bearing the sound would be constant when your stopped. If you find the TO bearing I'd replace the Pilot if you didnt do it when the clutch was replaced, heck for a couple extra bucks just replace it.. ha ha Good luck man.Eddie

Well so far so good today, ive driven abut 20 miles and no noise yet.The clutch/throw out has very little time on it, im hoping it was a fluke, it was very cold yesterday and the car was outside. Thanks for all the help,i called centerforce, they said to replace the throw out bearing with a gm one so it can be changed but i dont want to if i dont have to.95 trans am, golen engine 383 ,140k,6spd, procharger 12psi supercharger, racetronix fuel pump, 58mm BBK throttlebody, hooker long tubes, crane HI6-DSR ignition box, crane ps-92 ignition coil ,true duals, 60lb injectors,3.73 GM gears, csr electric water pump, edelbrock strut tower brace, descreened maf,ls1 aluminum drive shaft, centerforce clutch, accel extreme heat wires,lt4 knock sensor, autolite 104s ,hurst short throw shifter,8-01-05- 02 frt end and taillights,ws6 rims, shiny black paint job!!.
