Is it safe to run anything higher than like 6 Lbs of boost. I heard the rings in the LS1's are really weak.

not sure, thats why i asked "nd how much boost could i run off of stock internals?" cuz i heard about the weak ls1 parts and stuff. so i doubt ill have enough money for a while to turbo, but its a nice dream

With everything I've read about it so far, 5 psi is fine without an intercooler, but to run 7 pounds requires the use of a methanol injection kit to keep it from detonating.

i'm not real sure about the ls1's but i've seen a car that had right at 500whp with that remote mount kit from sts. he couldn't reach his 8psi target boost. and the car car wouldn't spin the tires in 1st gear. those remote mount turbochargers are a joke if you ask me. i ran 8psi on my factory lt1 and was fine. but i also had twin high flow intercoolers 42# injectors and a good dyno tune. i've upgraded alot since then though.

we have a guy in the lvfbody club that does the rear mounted turbo, install, and tune for around 5k. Pretty sweet. I believe hes done up to 7-8 psi on the turbo, no problems.

                    Jon (1320 on Lvfbody)
"Basically, 4500.00 you need 60 lb mototron injectors and an interceptor gauge. The interceptor is sold in different color option etc...they are 225 from dealers now. Injectors can be had second hand or on sale or even some GP's from places like speed inc. at about 400.

price may vary slightly on turbo options. For a 6 speed car, a 67 or 70 turbo and that puts it in the 530-600 rwhp area."

talking about one of his camaro ls1's...

"Its a stock engine, with my stealth turbo kit, 2.73 gears in the stock rear. It still has the stock air box, the stock muffler and some trans am tips. The electric cut out was open, and its virtually silent with it closed. It ussually runs 10-14 psi , intercooled, water /meth on 91 octane. It runs well, just a tick or two behind Zombie SS's 10.50 car."

I have been drooling over his setups for a while now, getting closer!
