  • 1989 GTA T Tops question

I'm trying to find out how to remove the molding so I can get to the female adapter to my t tops. I'm trying to lower the female adaptor so the t tops lock down tighter. My problem is I have some interior plastic molding that is in my way, and I don't want to break it. Any ideas would help thanks

There might be a single screw holding the plastic molding in place - on the edge. Then the rest just pops down. Slide your fingers behind the molding and give it a gentle tug - it should come down. If the plastic clips behind the molding crack, you can find them in the "help" section of your local auto parts store. It's an '89 so the plastic clips might be kind of brittle - if it's gonna break, it's gonna break.

I used to own an '89 GTA with the 350 and T-Tops. That was a rare combo because the chassis-flex was so bad, the t-tops would be loose and leak. The only cure was to put sub frame connectors on and install a new seal kit on the tops.

    Good luck with your project.
