  • Headlight Motor. need help asap

Ok i went to take the headlight motor off, and the wire connection is to the motor and to the low/high beams. so if i buy a new headlight motor does it come with the light wires built in or would i have to splice it in or what?

I'm pretty sure it does. Disconnect all the plugs and remove the motor. Get a replacement install and hook it up.

What is wrong with the motor? Does it grind or not work at all? If it grinds you can get replacement brass gears that are a lot cheaper than a new motor. Only cost about $45. If you do replace the entire motor I can't imagine there would be any splicing of wires. Any wire connections should plug right into the new motor.

well before the light has not come up before and while it was still under warranty we took it in and they said a wire was rubbed because of the open close motion, and they fixed it. and then it started to randomly stop working then work again sometimes, and now it doesnt work at all. the motor doesnt make a grinding noise and since the wires go to the motor and the headlights i know its getting power. it just doesnt come up.

        Edit.
since the headlight connector wires go to the motor and to the headlights themselves, would the new motor come with all 4 wires goin to the motor and the pieces to go to the headlights? or would i need to cut the wires and then get the new motor and splice the wires in?

If the motor removed has wires, the replacement will have wires too.

Ok head lite motors hardley ever go bad but if you do need one go to this site an save a ton of money. http://www.car-part.com/ I got the hole head lite plus motor an red cover in red for $50.00. I think GM wants $135.00 just for the motor. An it's just a plug in no splcing wires. But I think it is the gear.Good luck with it.

if by chance it is the gear you could just pull the gear out and flip it. Since the gear never rotates fullly, the other half is unused. Im not saying it is the gear, however i've read that you can save time and money by this simple trick. I just figured id throw it out there.... pretty neat.
