  • SLP injectors

Hey everyone! I've been away for awhile so it's been a long time since I've posted. The "new" (to me) site design is great!

Anyways, I have a question on SLP #25 injectors. I called SLP up today only to get vague answers. Firstly, these list at #25 @ BAR 3, which is slightly higher than our LT1 injectors. However, the guy on the phone told me they're LS1 injectors. I thought LS1s were #28 @ BAR 4, which flow less than LT1s. They guy also said that they will flow more than LT1 injectors. Is this possible?

Second, the I asked if they have a ball-and-seat design or are pintle style. He said "that's a good question" and just said the LS1 injectors and will fit your LT1. Which type are LS1 injectors?

Lastly, I realize I can hardly lose on $99 for a new set of injectors. However, if anyone knows where I can get a flowmatched set for $200 or slightly more, please let me know. All I know is that the guy at Racetronix said SVO injectors do not come flowmatched...the retailer selling them must flow-match it themselves.
    Thanks for anyone's help.

    Bad info.

The stock LT1 ball and seat injector is made by Rochester Products (now part of Delphi) and for 1994-1997 are nominal 24#/hr injectors, flow rated at 3 bar = 43.5psi. When you look in the stock PCM programming, you will find that GM uses 24.9#/hr for these.

"bar" is roughly the metric equivalent of "1 atmosphere", or 14.5psi.

Stock LS1 injectors are flow rated at 4 bar = 58psi. If you get an LS1 injector flow rated at 28#/hr, and use it in an LT1 at 43.5psi, it will only flow 24.25#/hr.

Bosch pintle style injectors, often sold as Ford Motor Sports, SVO, etc. are flow rated at 2.7 bar = 39.15psi. If you put a 24#/hr Bosch injector into an LT1 at 43.5psi, it will flow 25.3#/hr.

If the SLP injectors are flow rated at "3 bar", then they are flow rated at the same pressure as a stock LT1 injector.

Thanks Fred for all the info. Looks like I will look elsewhere for injectors. I'm still stumped why SLP lists these as 25 lb injectors when 24.25 is not quite there.

I've seen a number of people asking questions about these injectors. Its a shame SLP doesn't have accurate info about them. If they are actually LS1 "28's", the difference in flow between the stock 24# and these is not significant enough to worry about.

Would you recommend the LS1s as decent stock replacements? Or should I spend a few $$ more and go for some flow matched injectors? The most I'd ever get into the motor would be 1.6 RRs. Otherwise, just bolt-ons. Thanks.

I just got a response back from racetronix, and they have 28# injectors, flowmatched, that are from LS1 engines. They say "Static Flow Rate: 28 lb/hr (294cc) @ 43.5PSI (300kPa)" Now if I recall, isn't 43.5 PSI 3 Bar? I thought LS1s were rated this at 4 Bar. I asked the guy at racetronix about this and said I was "misinformed". I am so confused now.

Sorry for making so many replies, but I just found out from Racetronix that LS1 injectors come in 2 versions: a 24 lb @ 3 bar and a 28 lb @ 3 bar. They have some flow matched 28 lb injectors for $200/set. If I go with the 28 lb @ 3 bar, would I lose power because my motor is internally stock? Personally, I would rather go this way because they are flow matched, unlike the 24# set. Thanks for any advice.

At the power level you are at you are cutting hairs.
Buick owners buy 50# injectors to replace their 28# factory units.
They simply get a chip calibrated for the new injector size and build of motor which in many cases is (fairly) stock.
They run and idle like stock and get the same mileage.
Also keep in mind they are only running small 231 CID motors.
We also have dealers who use 57# and 72# injectors in turbocharged 4 cylinder imports with the same results.

If you know you are going to be making X? HP down the road why not get a set of injectors that will take you there like 27# or 42#? You can get someone who knows what they are doing to properly calibrate your ECM / PCM.

It's all in the program. My GN's injectors will flow a combined 280 lbs/hr. and drivability is superb. All in a 235 cid.
