ok, i just bought a set of 4.10 gears for my car. how hard are they to put in??? i want to think that i can do it, but there must be a trick to it if everyone sends there rear-ends off right?? i want them in my car as soon as possible! and another question, how fast should a stock 93 trans am LT1 auto run in the quater? my best time was 15.6 with a .777 reaction time. is that bad? why is she running so slow?????????

What rear end do you have in it right now? What series carrier are the gears made for?

What are your specs? A little background goes a long way. To up some gears, Honestly is a pretty hard thing to do. Installing them is cake, measuring the Back Lash ane the choosing the correct shims is where most people get into trouble. You have to make sure the pinion depth is dead on and the drag on the main pinion bolt is just right. Your going to need a pinion depth guage to do this. If your not very expereinced, I seriously would not recommend you doing it.

Like I said, its not exactly physically demanding, but you better have a good knowledge of how to measure pinion depth and back Lash. Its about a 7-8 on the difficulty scale. Its up there. My father has 30 years experience working on cars and even he blew his rearend b/c the back lash was off.

You might need paddle kits for 4.10
"Upgrade the gears in your rear differential.
These SLP Performance Parts differential paddle kits make it possible to install 4.10 gears in any OEM or heavy-duty 7.5/7.625 in. Zexel Torsen differential without grinding the ring gear or center block. SLP strongly recommends the use of these kits for all such installations. "

You will also need a depth micromter with a large base, a dial indicator, a magnetic base, and some high spot blueing.

Oh and you will need to correct for the speedometer. I'm not sure how you do that on a 93.
