  • Getting ready for the dyno...

    Hey everyone,
Im getting my car dynoed on saturday. I have never done this before. Any tricks/tips I should know before hand. I am going to put in some 94 octance & bump the timing a few degrees before i go. Anything else?

Be careful with using high octane fuel. Most people think that the higher the rating the better. This is not necessarily true. You want to run the lowest octane fuel you can get away from. Remember, the higher the octane rating, the slower the fuel burns. This is great when you are running high compression but if you are not, then it could hinder your numbers and produce less power. I don't know anything about the car you are dynoing but take this info into consideration.

Why not dyno the car the exact way its normally run/set up? Not by trying to juice it up with high octane fuel and high timing advance for some knid of one-off dyno pull, going for a big number.

I see your point. All I really want to do is make sure the car is in peak condition for the pulls to be sure that im not underrating myself.

I typically run premimum in the car anyway. The timing I usually run 4 degrees advanced... I took it up to 6 degrees yesterday. I think I will hook my laptop up today to see if im getting any KR. If not, I will most likely leave the car at 6 degrees for good.

If the fuel filter hasn't been changed in a while, that can help...especially if your getting it dyno tuned.
