I just put a new comp cam XFI 268 HR13 in my 95 LT1. got it all back together and it idles fine but when you get on the thorottle it pops and sputters and lost a lot of power.Ijust installed new plugs, wires, and a new timing chain with the cam.The only thing that i can think of is i dropped the ICM and coil when i was putting it back together. maybe it is bad or do i just have to get on the dyno

It is also possible that the cam has the incorrect dowel pin length. Sometime in 95 the factory changed the pin length. If the incorrect pin is used to drive the opti, it puts pressure on the rotor upon assembly. As soon as it is started, the destruction begins. You may have toasted the optispark.

Ignition timing can only be off if you didn't index the Opti correctly to the cam dowel pin, but on a 95-97 vented Opti, that would be a 120-degree error, and it would barely run, if at all. On the other hand, make sure the Opti harness connector is not corroded or damaged. The other possible error would be cam timing error due to failure to align the cam sprocket correctly to the crank sprocket. Then there's the possibility of incorrectly adjusted valves.Fred
