Electronic kit meaning what? Engagement is done by monitoring TPS? Bottle pressure monitor feedback to fuel delivery? I know ZEX makes a kit like that. I havent heard anything real good about it though (or bad for that matter). Its a dry kit.....

I'm runnning a TNT kit and love it... check it out. A bit more $$$ than others, but worth it IMOP. High quality components, never had a problem and it hits HARD. Good luck.

The VENOM kit is "electronic" in the sense that it is a dry kit, that alledgedly uses the stock O2 sensors to trim the fuel added by the stock injectors. It also has "compensation" for bottle pressure. And, it will allow operation of the nitrous system at part throttle, proportional to throttle. That is a feature of interest to people with turbos, who are using a bit of nitrous to provide power while the turbos spool up ("lag").

      Potential problems with VENOM:

I beleive they interpose an injector controller between the stock PCM and the injectors. It "adds" pulse width for the extra fuel. The last time I checked, they did not have an add-on controller that would work with sequential injection, and 94 and newer LT1's and LS1's need sequential injection. Their unit was demo'd on an older Corvette, and that was a "batch fire" injector setup.

Maybe they have fixed things by now.

Using the stock injectors is very risky. There is a definite limit to how much pulse width you can add. If you start adding too much, you could drive the injectors to 100% duty cycle, or even try to fire them more than 100% of the time. The NOS 5176 dry kit, while not electronically controlled, uses an inline booster pump, running the stock ijnjectors at 85-90psi to support the 125HP shot that they apply. There is no way a VENOM could add 125HP using stock injectors and stock fuel pressure.

Relying on the stock O2 sensors is dangerous. They are extremely accurate in the range of 14.7:1, which is the A/F ratio you use for closed loop, part throttle, part load driving. But for WOT NA applications, you want 13:1 or better, and a nitrous setup might be looking at 11:1 A/F ratio. The stock narrow-band O2 sensors are simple not accurate at that rich an A/F ratio. Operating temperature affects the millivolt output more than real changes in A/F ratio.

For your application, you don't need progressive, part-throttle N2O use. Unless you have a turbo, and want to overcome turbo lag. That would be a useless feature.

So..... before you invest a lot of $$$$ in the VENOM system, ask them to explain all of the points I have raised. I've seen one of there "techs" get hit a$$ kicked pretty severly on the N2O Tech board at CZ28.com.

Hey Fred, could you get a little more detailed next time?? :-) Just joking. This board is amazing...the amount of info you can get and how helpful people are. I like to check out other car message forums too, and there really is no comparison to this one. So many of the other ones are "XX Rules, YY sucks" etc...

I started visiting this board back when it started, and I sold my Camaro a couple of years ago, but I still come here almost on a daily basis just to pick up info. This board rocks...

If you are planning on staying under 125 shot for now the NOS 5176 is a very easily installed kit but is a little higher in price.

TNT has the F1 kit up to 150hp.

For a beginner dry fuel enrichment setup I like the Nitrous Express stage 1 EFI kit. The shark nozzle is a very good design. Not to mention this kit is almost $200 cheaper than it's competitors.
