  • Tranny question

At high RPM's (5500+) and at full throttle it is hard to switch from one gear to the next. It feels like the tranny is holding on when I go to switch from 1st to second in a drag strip type situation. Does anyone know what might cause this? It's not cool when your racing and you have a 1 second delay or so between 1st and second, and I am sure it sounds like I don't know how to drive my car to the person next to me. It does make the victories a little bit funner though.

SFC( not sure what kind), drilled/slotted rotors, K&N air filter, all free mods, 3" Borla cat back exaust, electric exaust cut out, NGK spark plugs, royal purple motor oil, and Zaino .Maybe more. I find more stuff done to it everytime I look at it.

Have you ever replaced the clutch? Make sure the tranny bolts are tight. If they come loose the tranny will teeter on the block and cause it to stick.

I haven't replaced the clutch on it yet. It engages about 1/4" from the floor and doesn't slip, so I assume its good. I will check the bolts though. Thanks.

Your clutch is not disengaging or something is seriously wrong with your trans. Like Raro said, check that all he bolts are tight and you have plenty of fluid. How long has it been since you changed the clutch?

Have you tried the drill Mod. I was amazed at the difference it made for me. Maybe give it a shoot.

I am not familiar with "the drill mod". What is it?

What happens is that the Breader line that comes out from the Master is restricked. So What you do is Drill the end of the hose. Sounds complicated but the hardest part is to remove the Master. Go to InstallUniversity.com and it gives you step by step.

I agree with this. Bleeding the clutch and/or the drill mod should help.

Just remember when you disconnect the Line from the slave then reconnect everything, dont start opening the valve, just pump the clutch stop for about 2 minutes. Dont press it all the way down, just short quick pushes and the peddle will come right back, no need to bleed. Those little short engagments forces all the air out of the system.

Just be careful when disconnecting the line from the slave, Its a pain. JUst use two flat head screwdrivers. And after you drill it out make sure you flush out the line to prevent any shavings to stay in the line.
