  • Engine Hoist...

    Hey everyone,
I am going to be replacing the bad engine in my 3rd gen in the next week or two. I need an engine hoist. I cant see buying one to use it once and then throwing it away. (No garage to store it) Are there places that will rent me one? I would probably need it for about a week.

Oh yes. Do you have a tool rental store around? There is one in Atlanta called Northern Tool Rental. They rent anything from a hammer to a D9 Cat.

Or if you cant get a hold of one, drop the engine from under. Thats what me and my brother did on his 96 Z. Simply using 2 jacks and being very careful.

Ture that would work... But on a third gen it's so much easier to just take it out from the top. I've seen people do it with a chain thrown over a tree branch with the hood on still. I wouldn't recomend doing it that way but I would say taking it out of the top is really the easiest way.

Yeah.. On 3rd gens you have to dissassemble most of the front suspension to take the motor out from the bottom. Plus we dont have the windsheild cowl clearance issues that 4th gens have.
