Things to consider.
1. It;s not how much you should pay, but rather how much is the reserve? $11,000 price, reserve not met? Even with the mods and mileage, it's already way over priced for a 1999.
2. I would want dyno proof of the HP and torque numbers, and a few verified time slips before I would take his word for it that 'it'll smoke a new Corvette.'
(I have a 2006 C6 coupe, and HP/torque to weight ratio for the C6 has it all over the TA - The TA weighs in around 3800 pounds - give or take - while the C6 is about 3300 pounds.
3. Why would he sell a car that will 'smoke a new Corvette' in order to buy -- a new Corvette?
4. Lastly, he says it's been babied, but I would have my own trusted mechanic go over this TA with a double fine toothed comb before I would ever consider buying-especially over the internet.

Just a thought, why is a 1999 WS6 with mods over priced at $11,000 when a 1997 WS6 (Joe's) is underpriced at $11,000?Originally posted by 00 Ragtop ZThings to consider.

Why do I say that Jeff? Well, for 95% of buyers, mods mean nothing on resale. Mods are individualized. Most people will also look at mods like this as -- I wonder how many times this car was rode hard and put away wet?
Lastly, taken all that in consideration, it is an 8 year old car albeit with 54,000 miles or so, and who's to say that Joe's is underpriced at 11,000 for a 1997?
Sorry, but I just can't accept that 11,000 for a 1999 TA WS-6 is anything but overpriced.2000 Z-28 Convertible, neutral leather interior and neutral top, hotchkis STB, SLP Bowtie Grill, WhisperLid, K&N, cold air induction

The only reason I would say its over priced is b/c of all the mods it already has done to it.. Modifications lowers the value of any car. It seems like a good buy considering it already has alot of work done, but with all that it comes problems. The idea of selling a fixed up car might work for the riceburners but for F-body's its simply calling for problems. How many times have we had kids come on this forum all excited b/c they picked up an F-body with a long mod list, and 2 months in everything starts messing up. Last words:
1. Very nice looking car
2.Looks very well taken care of, cosmeticly.
3. People that put that kind of money and work into a car, do it for a reason. I know everyone agree's that this car has experienced some serious beatings!!
This car was not driven 50k miles like an old lady, rather a 16 year old with no care in the world Im sure.Eddie

I see these statements all the time, and often I wonder - you have a car like this, the person has obviously taken care of it. Put lots of time, energy, and money in it. Chances are, it's been to a strip a few times, done some burnouts, been ragged on here and there.Originally posted by ConEliteI know everyone agree's that this car has experienced some serious beatings!!

But it's also been taken care of, and the owner obviously has some pride in it. Mods are risky, but if you intend to mod anyways, so much the better to have someone else take the hit.
My thought is, is a car like this, actually better than the car owned by a 40 year old lady who plows through every pothole, tears it at every light, and doesn't know where the dipstick or trans pan is?
Just something to consider. I'll take up after the owner who has some pride in the car before any other seller.
I'd also do dealer and shop hits like crazy, because that's pretty low mileage. Odo's are way too easy to tamper with on these cars.

Strong point. I always put myself in the situations. I have put countless hours into my car. I change the oil every 2500 miles. Service everything. Pull plugs all the time to see eveyrthing is fine. Check my suspension at leats once a week to see that everything is tight. Grease anything that needs greasing. I give my Car some Extreme TLC that A large amount of people would never consider. My girl even says im obsessed. I dont see it that way, b/c its my passion and I give it my all. Now in about 2 years when I do everything I want to do (ie. Heads and Cam) is it going to be worth the $11k I payed for it? There is no way. b/c its been modified. The second you change something from stock it instantly de-values the price of the car regardless of the Shape of the inside and out. The engine is the main aspect of the buy. Buying something this modified is simply asking for trouble. My car didnt even have a K&N filter. It had nothing but highway miles. I have all records of the maintenace. The guy that owned it was in the service, was older. The original owner. Bought it at the age of 40+ years old so it was treated like a baby. So I got lucky.Originally posted by toddwirgesI see these statements all the time, and often I wonder - you have a car like this, the person has obviously taken care of it. Remind's me of those carfax commercials with cars that have "minor" flood damage or are "smoking hot".Originally posted by '94 White DevilI wouldn't buy anything with an odometer issue.
