well my drivers side window wont roll up. its completely down and i guess is stuck. my passenger side rolls very slowly and usually stops half way up. i need to do something about it really soon because i cant drive anywhere if my windows wont roll up! by the way they are power windows. what should i do? should i bring it in to the local gm dealer?

Did they work before and just stopped? I had the drivers switch break and that was the problem. Pop the mounting panel out of the door and check the connections.

That usually means the power window motor is bad. I just had to put in motor #3 on the drivers side last weekend.

the drivers side has always worked fine, but the passenger side has been really slow for months now. and just yesterday the drivers side was acting weird and wouldnt even roll up. i was pressing the switch and the whole thing just popped down and now its inside the door panel. so my car is stuck with the window down. the drivers side is completely dead.

Chances are the motor is dead. I bought my car and 2 months later the Pass. side was done. It would roll up about 1/4 of the way up and stop. So I would have to wait for about 20 minutes then pull up on the glass to take the load off the motor to prevent it from over heating. Thats what causes the motor to stop working. $15 on ebay and motor showed up. Installed it myself and there ya go. Pretty easy fix.

alright that is exactly what my passenger window does, and my drivers side window is completely stuck down. i'm not skilled so i'm taking it into the gm dealer in town and seeing how much to fix both windows.

did you check the fuses, or maybe its worth swaping the circuit breaker with a good one , maybe the passenger side window motor finally died and short circuited the power windows circuit and maybe damaged the breaker

If your saying it moves them slows down and stops then its the motor. . Take off the door panel and Test to see if there is Power at the motor. If there is then its the motor.

You can get it from ebay.
                    Here you Go

Its pretty easy. All you need is a Drill, Some Drill bits for Metal, Screw driver, and about 30 minutes to do it. believe me its much better than paying the Stealership 1.3 hours for 15 minutes that it takes. (Believe me I used to work for Chevy.)

Well, your driver's side motor is probably dead, but there may be hope for the passenger side motor.

They are driven off of common wiring which hits the driver's side first, then works over to the pass side. So the pass motor sees a good voltage drop.

You can get a kit that gives the pass motor a more direct source. You can find info over at LS1tech.com, not sure if I'm allowed to post that here, but go there and search.

Worst case, the kit will make your new pass motor last longer than before. I'd give it a shot.

alright well i have all of the above, and plenty of time on my hands so i think i'll give it a shot, those instructions on the Shoebox site seem like they'll help alot too. The weird thing is though that the passenger side has been acting up now for months but the drivers just suddenly stopped. and the window controls on the drivers side collapsed dropped down into the door handle arm rest thing.so i'm going to have to find a way to fix that.

When I replaced the motor on my driver's side I got it from Auto Zone. It was more expensive than those on e-bay (I believe it was around$50) but it does have a lifetime warranty.

I just tried to take motor #2 back to AutoZone and they said it was a 12 month warantee. I was bummed. They also said they had 2 in stock but they couldn't find them. I went to another Autozone who said they had 2 but they couldn't find them either. So I went to NAPA because they always have everything. It was $54.99 .

Thats exactly why I just rather buy one for $20 with no warranty and for the price you already payed for those 2 motors I can get 5 new ones. ha ha.
