  • a couple VSS questions...

I'm coming from a strong FWD experience background, so i've got a few questions pertaining to these RWD beasts, right now about the VSS.

First of all, where is the VSS located at? I've seen pics of trannies and such but haven't seen any external VSS's. Are they on the rearend, or are they internal?

Also, what pusle rate (PPM) is the VSS?

BTW i'm speaking of an OBD-I LT-1 Camaro, if it makes a difference ('94)

    Any help would be WONDERFUL!

The VSS is located on the driver's side of the tranny, near the tailshaft. I believe the pulses are 17 for T-56 and 40 for a 4L60E, but I won't swear to it.

Correct on the pulses per revolution of the driveshaft, not per mile.

This is the location for the T56.....

That's what i was going to say. So do you or anyone have the correct number? I'm really hoping it's in the 4000 range.
        Thanks for the pic too!!

The posted numbers (17-M6; 40-A4) are correct.... I was just pointing out that it was pulses per revolution of the driveshaft. You have to calculate pulses per mile based on the rear axle ratio and the rolling diameter of the tires.
