  • Lack of Power....

what do any of you think it could be.....
    changed......
    1.plugs...(bosch platinums)
    2taylor 8 mm wire
    3.alternator 104 amp
    4 new battery
5 new fuse relay down by starter....
    6.fuses....
7.puttin fuel injector cleaner in every tank of gas...
    8.changed oil...and filter...
    9.air filter

have yet to check the timing or the compression leave that to the mechanics....but any ideas...why its runnin incredibly slow...i cant even break the tires loose...no burn out capability.....

First, how long have you had the problem? Was it gradual or all of a sudden? Did it happen after you changed one of the things you listed. Also why do you put fuel injection cleaner in with every tank? Some bottles say no more than once every 3000 miles.
If you gradually lost power some of the true mechanics on here would know more than me, but a as a guess:
Maybe it not breathing well, maybe your cat went bad and is restricting the exhaust.
How many miles are on the engine? Has your gas mileage decreased?
    Maybe the timing is off.
    Could be so many things.
    Good Luck

ya i havent checked the timing the engine was dropped last august so not many miles....i have a big exhaust leak on the 4th cylinder back on the drivers side the gasket is like stickin out....i dont have headers just the stock intake manifold....its leakin bad the rest arent but that one does...every time it decellerates...it will pop/backfire or suck air in...that i guess could be the slight problem... the cat is hollow so its free exhaust,
but maybe it is the timing but if it isnt....then what should i look at next compression????...i have no idea.....i guess i should just bring it to someone...

Bingo..... you mean exhaust manifold. If you are running an 02 sensor and there is an exhaust leak prior to the sensor, it will trigger a false lean and the computer will add fuel. It will run pig rich and performance will be off. Fix the leak and go from there.

I had a loss of power on my '94 Camaro this summer, especially 1st gear. I took it to 5 places to have it checked and everyone had a different opinion. I had new plugs and wires installed, I recently had a new alternator and cat coverter, and I even had one shop tell me it "runs like a car with 124k miles normally runs." However, the last shop finally pulled the pan of to inspect the transmission and found "tons of black stuff" and recommended a tranny overhaul. The dealer recommended a whole new transmission.

I traded it in on a '00 Z28 yesterday. Problem solved.
