  • Brakes,some brakes problem Help...

Just finished replacing master cylinder. Old master cylinder had a lot of black trash in the resevoir. The problem is a lot of travel play until the pedal gets firm and the brakes start applying. I bled the system and got dark fluid from
all bleeder valves. I bleed the system until the fluid was clear. The instruction and troubleshooting chart that came with the master cylinder says the master cylinder compensating ports blocked..Is this the same as the proportion valve? There is a block measuring 4 9/16" long and 2 1/2" high with a 19mm bolt hear on each end.The rear one has a black cap on it.there is some fluid leaking out of the black cap. The front part of the resevoir line is connected to the front of the block and the rear line going to the rear. If this valve has trash blocking something, could this cause my problem? How would I get this trash out of this. I can hear the rear brakes applying but not the front. On rare occasions I got ABS light on the dash, but only for a few seconds.Next time I restarted no light except the first 3 seconds. Any help will be appreciated.

Hey Buddy. Can you add a sig. so we wont have to go hunting for the thread you created before. Makes it easier to reference to the year, make and model car you have.

Could be a number of things. You have to remember your pushing 15 years. The Brake lines could be contaminating the Brake Fluid. This Block/Valve you speak of I have no idea what that is. Your saying that it feels like the front is not braking? Is it a proportion Valve? Did the old Master have this "Block?"

I recently installed a line-lock kit and I had to bleed my front brakes and The liquid was Green. It was nasty. I proceeded to Bleed all the old fluid with new fluid. The pedal is so much hard and brakes much better. I was not able to get its completely Clean but a lot clearer than before.

The block is on the side of the ABS unit. Looks like alumium. There is a picture of it on Shoe box ABS unit location. Both master cylinder lines go to it.
