  • Can I check

Is there anyway to check out a low coolant sensor. My low coolant lite came on. So I stopped at the dealer an picked up a new sensor $60.00 dam dollars they went up in cost an are still junk. Anyway I installed it an the lite still comes on . This is my 5th one for this car.

Why are you still buying parts at a dealer, when there are sources that offer up to 50% discount on genuine GM parts?

It would appear you have some sort of electrical problem. There's no reason for repeated failure of the sensor. Mine has worked fine for 13 years now. Another possibility would be running something in the coolant that is corrosive or damaging to the sensor. Do you run anything unusual?

Ok I got one Sam Taylor for34.50 7.75 shipping. $42.25.Got 3 from Liberty Chevrolet for 38.95 2.73 tax .So now this one takes a crap a year later so I am thinking the parts stores must have them by now. So I call NAPA, have to order it $58.00 . Call auto zone $58.00 Go back to Liberty $56.44 3.95 tax $60.39 . So who has the cheap ones.An I am only using good ol antifreeze an water.
      How can I bypass this.

Did you try Dal Slabaugh, listed on Shoebox's page?

You can "bypass" the sensor simply by unplugging the harness connector. The light will not come on.

Or take the bulb out of the dash.

Has anyone tried beed blasting the sensor to see if it would restore it? I've had a couple fail too. I guess they are hit or miss. I am still using the GM Dexcool too.
