  • LS1 speakers in LT1

Are LS1 T/A door speakers compatible with being put in a 1996 T/A and function correctly? And which cars came with 2 ohm and 4 ohms?
These should work in my car right I ask because I emailed the seller because it says 1997+ cars and he said they wont work in my 96, i dont see why not, i think he just doesnt know F-body's.

You have to remember that the front speakers for 98+ T/A's are running at 2 ohms. I believe your front speakers run at 4 ohms. Pull the stock ones out and look on the back og the magnet. The Stock ones should say how much ohms. Please why would you want Stock Speakers. They Sound like dog poop. I recommend Aftermarket speakers. Put your money on a good set of component set speakers. I have a Brand New set of Speakers if your interested. I have all the specs. They fit great in the F-bodys. I was going to use them on my car but I gathered more money for a pair of Kappa's do to the fact that they run a tad lower Ohm rate. These are the ones I have. Ill let them go for like $90 bucks if your interest. Brand new in the box. I Install audio in cars for a living so. This speakers sound awesome with extremely clear Voice Mid-range and highs. I can Provide Pictures if you'd like. Dont Bother wasting your money on Stock speakers, b/c they are made out of paper and rip at high volume. These speakers are Fiberglass and very good replacements.

I've bought a couple things off this seller, partsladi, and they do know their stuff. They are almost like a wholesale seller. They sell stuff just like the parts counters at the dealers, just cheaper.
There are different stereo options, and design changes from '97+. I have a '96 like you and have run into the same things.
Just make sure of what speakers you have in there to begin with!
1996 White T/A, LT-1 auto with only aftermarket Flowmasters, shift kit, and a LG Motorsports G2 cold air kit.....that's it! She can't eat all the 'Stangs but will die trying.

I second ConElite's comments about going with an aftermarket speaker, especially for the price the auction is going for.

A little over a year ago I picked up a 2nd pair of MBQuart Reference series 6 1/2" speakers for about $85. They BY FAR outperform any stock speaker I have ever heard.

Trust me, if you're going to go to the trouble of pulling off door panels you want something that's worth your time.

Simply Pull off the door panel and pull the speaker. Look on the back and see if its 4 or 2 ohms. Just hope they are 4 ohm b/c if the stock system is 2 then your going to have one hell of a time looking for a set of speakers that dont distorte at low volume. My car has a mid-range that runs at 2 ohms and a tweeter hook up that runs at 4 ohms. So it took me about 2 months of searching for the right speakers and I finally got them. And even then I still have not been able to find a good set of replacement Woofer speakers. I have tried 3 different sets of speakers and nothing works. The Stock ones are rattling so.

I pulled the speaker and it says 4 ohm on the back. ConElite, im interested in your speakers can you send pics to Purepwrlt1@yahoo.com. Do they just mount/plug right in with no extra wiring or harnesses.

            thanks

Yeah Man. All you have to do it cut the wires from the back of the speaker, Then that goes into the Cross-over. From there the Tweeter hooks up and the mid-range. Pretty simple but very good system. I Always recommend running component sets b/c it helps seperate the Mid-range from the highs. Ill send you some pictures as soon as I get home. Box has been sitting there for like 2-3 weeks. The link I posted above are the exact speakers. Since im in the business I got them Wholesale. So I just passing on the savings to another F-body Brother. Dont want you to think they dont work. I tried them out for about ten minutes and Nope, Didnt work.
