  • Oil Pressure Gauge

I have a 2001 Camaro SS, just picked up the car a few months ago and have been running Mobil1 10W-30. My oil pressure gauge seems to be stuck above 40 psi. Even when the car is turned off (all other gauges go to 0) the oil pressure gauge still stays at 40. It seems to be working - when cold ive seen it almost pinned (about 75 psi).
Also, the needle bounces alot, especially when engine is under heavy load.

To me it seems as if the gauge is working, just reading ~20 psi to high.

    Any Suggestions?

    Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken the gauge is electronic so when you turn off the key it all the needles should Zero out. There could be some kind of short that is causing it to stay activated and intermittent pulses of current can cause the gauge to jump around.
