  • urethane bushings into an Fbody stock panhard /tracbar

Anyone installed Prothane or other urathane bushings into an Fbody panhard /tracbar?
    How difficult is this job?
    Was it worth it?
Is the old bushing hard to remove?
    Thanks.

I have not done the F-body but I did do a Mustang. The procedure to get them out is to burn them out with a torch. This made a heck of a mess not to mention toxic smoke.

The pan hard rod on the F-body is not a very strong piece. One member on here ripped his in half. Putting harder bushings in it will make it more likely to fail.

Both of these considered I would highly suggest replacing it with an aftermarket one rather than trying to upgrade it.

        UMI

I am interested. Depends on price.
Use existing stock bolts and some grease, right?

Its in perfect condition but b/c I have my car lowered its no good. Yes its the stock length. I need to get an adjustable one in order to center my Axle. Didnt hurt my handling, but it did kill the wheel hoop I used to have.

Not worth it. by the time you stiffen the bushings, the bar itself will begin to flex. It bends just a hair.... then snaps back. The result is decent traction until the bar does it's little wiggle, the rear end cuts loose with no warning and isn't gradual. Handling is shot. Do yourself a favor and get a tubular steel bar.
