  • A/C problem

New problem with my A/C. I read all the post I could find, but did not see my problem. A/C blows hot air, compressor comes on with the switch and fan(s) comes on as it should. Checked the low pressure switch, it also appears to be working. I checked the low pressure line and got a reading of 100 psi with the A/C turned on, it was in the red zone on the gauge it should be about 50 psi or less.

The only reason the low pressure side would be that high is if the orifice tube was full of debris and stopped up. It has to come apart to fix it. What usually causes the orifice tube to get stopped up is debris from the compressor seals coming apart.

Actually, if the compressors failing, itd do that too. Whats the high pressure side reading? If its very low, youre compressor is probably the culprit.
