  • How fast

Alright im trying to judge a few things right now, first off, with a mas and the ram air i went a 13.45, but with the 255/50/16 hoiser cheeter slicks i got, it slowed it down to about a 13.70 (but picked up from 104 to 105mph), because its to long of a rollout, even though 245 and 255 would seem the same, because its a slick its actually alot taller then a normal 255, so a gear swap would fix that starting line problem and help out the rest of the run as well, Having said that, what do you think i would be able to run if i put on an
    Air lid
    Smooth bellow
    160thermo (was stock)
hooker LT's (competition not super comp)
    hooker ory
    Slp LM1
    Egr delete
    air delete
    3.73 gears.

what do you think ill go before a tune, and then after.

Ported fast 92 mm intake and 92 mm TB on order.

why didn't you get a normal 26 inch tall DR? the DR's i have for my car are same height, only 255 instead of the stock 245 size. what psi did you run the DR at? even if it did drop your gearing down some, you should have still picked up a better ET from a harder launch with less tire spin. which hoosier tire are you running?

all those mods might get you a high 12, most likely a low 13. throw in a tune and it will probably be 12's all day long on the DR's you have.

Th Hoosier 255/50-16 Drag Radials (if that's what you mean by "cheater" slicks) are a taller 26.4" diameter. That's a significant increase over the 245/50-16's (25.65"). That's like reducing your rear gears numerically by about 3%.... not a lot, but significant.

What gears to you have in your A4 now.... 2.73 or 3.23?

yhea thats what i have, with my street tires i had a 2.04 60' foot when it barley spun, however that was very rare. with the Dr's i have like 2.16 - 2.17, but it doesnt spin at all which is what i need to bracket race. I run them at like 38 psi on a 44 max psi however as stated above thats about 3%, which will be corrected easily buy the change from 273 - 373.

          Right now i have 2.73's

I take it your auto with 2.73s. For you to get a worse 60' with DR's thats weird considering your saying that your not slipping. 38psi seems like way to much pressure.

no they dont spin a bit, the reason that there slower in the 60 is that the gear is so low, it doesnt let the motor rev high enough to start making power, its all in the final gearing of the car. but the 3.73's obviously will change that a ton.

Its ALMOST sounds like its bogging.... too much tire. But there's something weird.

Running that high a pressure makes no sense at all. The 44psi "max" is a pressure that is required to realize the full load carrying capacity of a DOT-rated tire. They have to post that on the side of the tire as part of the DOT approval. It has NOTHING to do with what pressure you should run on your car, unless your car weighs 6,400#, and it doesn't. The more air you put in them, the larger the diameter at the contact point. I'm suprised it hooks at all with 38psi..... got to be riding on the center of the tread, with no real contact patch at all. I run my 315 drag radials at 32psi on the street, and drop them for traction at the track (on the rare occaisions that I'm not using my 28" slicks).

Sounds like power is down from what it was earlier. Did you make the weather corrections on the ET and MPH to compare them?

38 psi in a DR is way way too much air for the strip. 32-35 for the street, 14-20 at the strip. i'd footbrake the car as high as you can, as soon as you get the green crush the gas. do you have the stock torque converter in the car?
