I have a '78 Firebird Formula with a Pontiac 400, I am changing the timing cover seals and oil pan gaskets (to fix some leaks). I was wondering if anyone could guide me to any resources about Pontiac engines. Specifically, right now, I need to know the torque ratings of the bolts that hold the timing cover and oil pan in place. One of the previous owners changed the hardware to ARP, without the hex. bolt heads, I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I have the Chilton manual but it only reccommends torque ratings based on the grade of the bolt. In addition I want to know more about the engine in general and different modifications people have chosen in the past. I appreciate the advice/help!
