My coolant has been leaking ever since the shop replaced the water pump and today they were able to find the cause: intake manifold gasket. 
I find it quite ironic that they both happened together - although the manifold leak was very very small so maybe I just didn't notice it. In fact, when I brought the car back a few weeks ago the manifold leak did not show up in a pressure test. Apparently now it did.
Are there oil passages in the intake manifold? Could oil be leaking internally into the intake and thus making its way into the cylinders and getting burned? I wonder if my disappearing oil and leaking coolant could be one problem??? I am using considerably more oil than I used to but it doesnt leak externally.
Also - about intake manifolds, will a leaky gasket keep getting worse? What will happen to the engine? Can you just top off the level and leave it at that? Or will the bad gasket effect the engine operation.
