i took my car to aamco and they said my tanny is shot i have a rebuilt turbo hydro 350 anda 2700 tourque converter is in it....its real sluggish.....like takes alot of rpm to get the car moving like almost redline.....then once it gets going its better but not even close to where it should be they said they would have to take it apart to see the condition..and it would cost 1300 and up....
but the turbo 350 is only 900 bucks brand new should i bring it to another place to get a second opinion.......

Personally I wouldn't rebuild it. I would buy something like a TCI http://store.summitracing.com/produc...earchtype=ecat Labor is the killer. Sounds like you already know the answer. They have a store in Tallmadge, Ohio. You could save the shipping and go pick it up.

If you are thinking of rebuilding get a second opinion. I brought my Olds in to Aamco years back because the tranny was making a lot of noise in turns.

They said it was low on fluid and that it was all black and so were the internals of the tranny. Rebuild would have cost between 2-3 grant if I remember right. But since I was moving back to Canada they didn't have enough time to do it. I asked them three times to fill up the fluid and they said they did and even charged me for it. I drove the car straight home, loaded on to the moving van, unloaded back in Canada and went to a tranny shop. They guy checked the fluid first, because it was low he filled it and took it for a test drive and everything was fine. He didn't even charge me for anything.

I was happy, though I felt stupid because I didn't check the fluid myself. Could have cost me a lot of money.

I'd get a second opinion, but it doesn't sound good. But, I just had the tranny replaced in my 92 RS--2 year warranty, $1,275. Don't let them over charge you.
