I'm still working on my 96 ws6. Question is, what happens @ 7000 with the obd2 computer? The a9l computer on the mustangs doesn't scale past 6200, but it will rev til it blows. My car is completely apart right now, otherwise I would spin it up and see for myself. I am tuning with lt1 edit, the scales go up to 7000, there is no rev limit setting, and no fuel cutoff setting. Just wondering if it keeps revving, if so does it stay with the 7k setting, or does it hit a brick wall and die? Thanks.

He's not asking if there is a rev limiter - he knows there is one and he's already removed that if I read his comments correctly. He's asking will the PCM continue to function above 7,000rpm, since there are no editable tables above that value. I believe Rick Abaer has taken his to 7,800rpm. He's pretty well known as one of the fastest LT1 racers around. I took the easy way out and opted for an aftermarket ECU. The risk at that RPM is disintegration of the rotor in the distributor. I only use the optical signals, not the rotor and high voltage section.Fred

I am using the ltcc with ls1 coil packs, so the opti is just that, a signal. There is no place to set a rev limit in lt1 edit, just a top speed limit. The scaling for ve and timing go up to 7000, power enrichment to 6800, but it will let me set the automatic shift points to 8192. I used to run nitrous and an msd digital 6 and had the rev limiter set at 6500 on the msd, I never had a reason to take it any higher than that. I was just wandering if the scaling itself imposed a rev limit, or if like a mustang a9l ecu it would use the 7000 settings at anything above that. I'm tossing a lot of combinations around and just doing some homework on specifics before I get started too deep in it.

Rev limit is set on the "CHASSIS" screen, right hand side, under "Limiters". It is called fuel "cutoff" and "resume".Fred

Boy, I've been using that for like 3 years now, and completely forgot about that. Thanks. At some point I went in there, cause I just checked my most recent tune and its set at 6850, I then pulled my stock file and its 5865. Ok so that much is answered. Now if we can find out what the computer uses for settings above the scaling parameters. Thanks again.

I thought I remember a discussion on the LT1 Edit board where they said it used the 7k settings, but I wouldnt swear to it. Still, I dont know how you are going to get more fuel up there, even if that's true. You'll have to log it and see what happens to the timing and pulsewidths - keeping an eye on your wideband.

I'd suspect it just continues to run on the 7,000RPM values. The MAF will record the correct air flow up to 460GPS. The PCM will use its last target A/F value to calculate the fuel, based on the air flow. You just won't be able to adjust the timing or any RPM dependant offsets beyond the last value in the tables.Fred
