Unfortunately, you have most the weight of the SS and Z but not the displacement. You'd have to do some serious mods to your car, but headers are a start. You may also want to consider gears.

Maybe it is time to graduate to the V8? Insurance can jump alot depending on your age. If you get the 6 speed and baby it on the highway the gas mileage isn't that bad. The V8 cars hold their value better, especially in a rare trim combo like 6 speed ragtop.

How sick of the V6 are you? If you spend enough in mods on the V6 you will be in it so deep you could had sold it and bought a V8. And then after spending all that dough, it is still only worth the price of a V6. ANd after you get done messing with it, it will be harder to sell. People prefer to buy original cars.

All good arguments to just admit defeat with the V6 and get the 8.

I guess you could say im in the same boat as u i also want more power out of my v6 but im far from sick of the car i love it. I have a 93 3.4 liter only pushing out 160 horses stock so far for mods i just have Arizona Speed and marine cold air intake and Flowmaster cat back. I am currently looking into buying a new computer chip something you may want to consider as well. If anyone any ideas on which chip i should get please let me know. As for the supercharger or tubro i looked into that as well and they are mighty tempting but realisticly for me at least buying a super or tubro charger would be almost as much money as i paid for my car, you may want to take that into account as well like was said earlier no matter what you put in it, its still a v6 (unless you put a new engine in )

The money that you will dump into the V6 to get 300+hp you would already have enough to buy a Z.

A Turbo 3.8 from a Buick Grand National should do the trick.

its true that it would be cheaper in the long run to just go out and buy a v8 but... im 17 my insurance would be insane if i got a v8 (thats why i got a 6 in the first place)

That could be insurance fraud. I swapped an 8 into my 86 V6 car in 91. I called my insurance company to ask if they needed to know, he said yes and raised my rate. He also said they look at things like that when inspecting damaged cars. I would never recommend lying to your insurance company. If you killed someone in an accident ,and were misrepresenting the car you are driving they could void your policy and you could lose everything.

Different insurance companies could handle it differently. I was with American Family at the time.

Insurance would never find out, it is true they go by the VIN.

They do go by the VIN. I never denyed that. If you get in an accident and the adjuster comes to inspect your car and sees a V8 under the hood of a car covered under a V6 policy..... I wrecked a 95 Z-28 when I was 21. I watched the adjuster go over every inch of that car. he even had the dealership put it up on a lift.

He might notice, he might not. If he does it is big trouble. Especially if there were injuries involved. Your coverage may be void. You may never recover financially.

Take the gamble if you want. Don't we buy insurance so we dont have to gamble? It is also a moral question. Is it ok to misrepresent and to lie? I hold myself to higher standards than that. It will come back and get you in the butt someday. Carma, God .... call it what you want.

Another fine rant by Tracy.... Sorry guys.
