  • 96 ta/95 camaro

my first time posting, I spend a lot of time on a mopar board talking about my 1965 plymouth fury convertible but I always drive my 1996 trans am convertible. It is completely stock v8 with auto white exterior and top with white seats and balck and white interior. it has 145,000 miles with no major problems. So far I have replaced the top (last month) replaced the windshield (last week rock chip) water pump, brakes and (rotors twice) two trns mounts and spark plugs.

The car runs great and looks pretty nice. I get a lot of compliments on it and love to take the long way home with the top down.

my problem is my stereo light in the original radio does not illuminate, the blinkers do not work and I have replaced the flasher (I think I have a bad wire in the tail light) and my headlight motor makes a grinding noise when it goes down. Also, I remember being able to flip on the fog lights and running lights with the headlights staying down but now they come up when I turn it to parking lights.

Do you have any suggestions on repairs for these items?

by the way, I read most posts back to page 10 or 12 and was very impressed with the way you guys handle yourselves on the board. very knowledgeable, kind and respectful. You act the same as the guys on my c-body website at cbodydrydock.com. That is why I joined your site and hope to visit often. ( I am sure the wife will love the extra hour and a half I am now adding to my online schedule. LOL)

well this is too long already so I'll stop for now. noone wants to read a novel message board.

Here's another thread regarding the same problem. There is a link for the fix.

Which motor do you have in the Fury? Good luck on your electrical problems in the T/A ; nice looking car. I wonder if you have a wire grounding out somewhere. Have you worked on anything lately or changed anything out. A wire may have been crimped or something.

        65 fury

the motor in the 65 sport fury convert is a 383 big block with an auto 727 trans this car also has power top power windows and power drivers seat. It still needs a lot of work and that is why the ta is still stock. Too many projects and not enough money. LOL

        TA questions,

does anyone know what causes the headlights to go and down when you set the alarm? mine does this too and I think it may be because of the stripped out motor. also, it flips up when I run just my fog lamps and drivign lights where it did not do it before.

( these 96 cars have a mean look with the fog lights on and the headlights down and I'd like to enjoy that look again)

It does that with the stripped gear.

            stripped gear

thanks for the info Joe. I'll order that part and get it fixed.

I am sure that will fix the headlights popping up with just the running lights on too. So I'll get that taken care of very soon. the noise just drives me crazy.
