  • Why buy a HP clutch?

    Hey everyone,
I am getting a T56 to put into my 3rd gen this weekend. I need a clutch. I see all kinds of clutches from stock replacements for $150 to twin disk units for 1k+.

What is the advantage of a High Performance clutch & is it worth the extra $$$. I know I not going to spend 1k on a clutch, but if its worth it, I may be able to swing up to $400.

    Thanks for the advise.

what are your plans with the car?
    (i.e.) Daily Driver
    Strip
    Combination of the two: street/strip

Different clutches have different engagement harshnesses. if it is a daily driver, you don't want a clutch that is going to engage so hard it feels like someones swinging a bat to your chest. You would want something with more "streetability" and finesse.

Its going to be 95% street and 5% strip. I dont think I will ever get over 400HP in this car.

Hmm I have the LS7 clutch and I love it. Its lighter than stock and still chirps third. But That wont fit on the LTx engine.
