  • does hollywood have it out for the classic car

I was watching TV the other night and it seemed to me that no matter what show I was watching there was someone driving a classic camaro or mustang. Now that fact in itself I found rather pleasing, but as I continued to watch the show I was appauled to see the car destroyed. After watching the demise of a incredabley good looking mustang; it struck me that just about every time I see a nice classic car in a movie or on TV it gets destroyed. I suppse that they bought the car as a junk car, fixed it up and then destroy it during filming, but why does it have to be classic muscle cars? There are not a lot of them around compared to more modern vehicles and it just seems a shame to destroy them. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this, but I thought I woud get everyones opinion on this and see if they have noticed the same thing or if I'm just plain out of my gord. I'm not sure if this really belongs in this forum, but I though I would bring it up anyway; if it shouldn't be here let me know and I'll remove it.

From the Cuda in Vanishing Point to the Charger in Fast and furious. Yes it's sickening.

About 20+ years ago, I got to ride in one of the General Lees used in the series. In the back was a scrap book with pictures of wrecked Chargers and Furys on car cariiers coming in to be fixed. I just want 1 of them.

A bit of trivia about Vanishing Point is that they substituted a Camaro for the Challenger when the end destruction shooting was done.

I have driven through a couple of the towns where filming was done.

One of the Vanishing point stunt cars and the main camera car are at Floyd Garret's Muscle Car Museum in Sevierville, TN, just outside of Pigeon Forge. The stunt car was left in it's as-arrived condition, which means it still has all the dirt, fingerprints, and everything else from when it left the movie set.

Not only classic cars, but SUV's are really getting a beating from Hollywood and the Media. Just about every traffic accident involves a SUV, not a station wagon or a pick-up truck. Last week's tree huggers had a placard: My car sips your sucks!

Again, all the liberals want to make us equal...... Lenin tried that for 70 years....... and failed!
