anyone know about/ had issues with the door courtesy lights? ones that light up the lock and window controls. mine are out. (drivers and passenger side) they had worked at one point and are now apparently toast. has to be red led's from what i could surmise. can you just hit up radio shack on some led's? any info on part numbers and where to purchase would be appriciated. and need info on schematics if anyone has that.. i find it very very unusual that an led would crap out.. much less both sides. not impossible.. but unlikely in my experience (i work in avionics/ electronics field). thinking a short might be more likely culprit. also, need details on a 'simple' way to get to em would help. took out the screw on the door handle assembly to get a peek and didnt help much on access. i couldnt seem to get the cover off the door handle/ lock without feeling like i was going to break it. thanks in advance- ron

They are not LED's. Its one single Light bulb. Just remove the control panel but lifting it from the bottle and slide up and pull up and turn the socket out. Then simply pull out the Bulb. Get the Bulb number and hit up AutoZone or Pep-boys.

All in all should take you no joke, about 5 minutes to get both out and install both sides as well.

As ConElite stated, just the bulb.

      1. Pop up the window/side mirror panel; just pull it upwards. It'll pop off and unplug the switches.

      2. Remove the locking slider. It snaps into place you all you have to do is pull gently on the ribbed/textured areas and slide it out.

      3. Get a phillips head screw driver and unscrew the door handle panel.

      4. Twist the bulb holder and pull out the bulb.

      5. Reverse the steps.

Not the door panel itself...the door handle panel/bezel. You swoopy thingy that surrounds it.

Guess I should have stated swoopy thingy.

Good timing on this post- I just noticed my passenger side light was out- simple fix, although the bulb was stuck in the socket, came out in pieces- This looks like a great spot to put an LED-

The dealer didn't even stock the part, said they never remembered selling them- Got one at Napa, an "AC Delco Type 70" bulb, looks like a little peanut bult that would be used in the instrument panel

              Thanks!
