      LS1 is a 98

      LT1 is a 95

I live in a city and honestly can't make up my mind about whether or not I would like an auto or a 6-speed more, my current car is an auto and I miss having a mannual tranny but.... an auto sure is a lot easier when you have a phone call or just don't feel like messing with gears.....

The LT1 I could test drive the LS1 is 3 hours away but looks very clean. Is the LS1 less problematic than an LT1? I know stock the LS1 has more power, but is an LS1 worth 2,000 more 2 have???

Man i wouldn't buy a car if can't test drive it could be all kinds problems

tranny motor wheels body. fluid leaks and all kinds of stuff

well ls1 is better designed then lt1 but just depends on if car has been abused or not

Are they Firebird Formula or Trans Ams?

Sorry , I guess I should have been clearer. I can test drive the LS1 it's just 3 hours away and I work alot so it would be hard to find time to do it. But if the difference between the LT1 and LS1 is only minor I'll concentrate on the LT1 and if it's in good shape I wont even worry about the LS1

              they are both formulas

P.S. have carfax on both no wrecks anyway

see if the guy would meet you half way. tell him if its in as good of condition that he says then you'll compensate for gas money

I'd pick the 98, all things being equal. Both are "low mileage" cars for their age. The LS1 starts with a 50HP advantage and will always have that advantage, mod for mod. There are more factory aftermarket parts available for the LS1 every day. The LT1 has been written off by the factory and by most the aftermarket parts designers. The problem-free ignition system, more sophisticated PCM and bigger brakes are all advantages for the 98.

Dude with the LS1 you eliminate so many problems the LT1 has. THe Opti being one. Better gas mileage. Single coil per plug. Easier to work on I think. But the only down side is the Auto. But at least you will save your rear end with Auto. LT1's around here go for no more than $5k. I have seen 95's for as low as $3500. Iono. My brother has an LT1 and I have an LS1. After a lot of mods on his car and MY car stock still beats him. PLus its going to take a lot for you to match the RWHP of an LS1 with an LT1.
