  • Fender Removal/Installation

I bought a new painted fender in my efforts to make my car look brand spankin new (getting close!). Anyway, the Fender that I ordered will be here today. I've never removed part of the body off before. Before I begin, are there any special tools I need? Adivce? Or is this as easy as I think it will be?

    Thanks!

    It shouldn't be too hard.

      HELP!

I am doing this but I ran into a bit of a problem. How do i get to the bolts that hold the passenger front fender to the front bumper? I AM ABOUT TO GO OFF THE DEEP END WITH THIS THING! (explanation later)

        From underneith.

Start at the bottom and work your way up. The nose needs to come off first.

first take off the air dam. Then the splash guards on either side of the air dam. Next take out the bolts holding the nose to the fenders. Next take out the bolts that go up into the botoms of the headlight bar. Then the obvious fasteners across the top, and one bolt in each top corner.

The nose will now lift off.

Now address the fender. Take out the wheel liner and then get the bolt located behind the liner. Get the bolt behind the side mirror, and all the obvious bolts along the top edge. Two last bolts under the car near the front of the door.

The fender will now lift off.

Why do I have to remove the splash guards if the nose is coming off?

Because they block access to the bolts behind them.

By splash guards, I mean the bottom panels on either side of the airdam, the underside of the nose. They are black plastic panels with vents in them held in with several 10mm bolts each.

Once the splash guards are removed, you can look up inside the nose from underneith and get access to the other fasteners required to remove the body panels.

Those inner wheel well splash guards have to come off too. There is a bolt behind them you'll need to get out.
