  • HELP!!! E-Brake Cable Snapped

So as I'm pulling back into work from lunch today I pull the parking brake and hear a pop followed by no tension on the handle at all. I quickly pulled the center console and sure enough the cable snapped.

Does anyone know how to repair this?
Am I going to have to get a new cable/assembly?

    Thanks.

        JBWeld! Kidding...that has to suck.

I think you'll have to replace the whole line..or park in 1st.

You could mess with a clamp for months only to have the cable slide out. If you want to do it once then get a new cable.

AutoZone if I remember correctly. Cheap, fit well and help protect the driver's side bolster from getting worse...

Gonna have to order one from dealer.
                Should be here tomorrow.

                Anyone replaced one before?
Was it as much FUN as I think it's going to be???

Has "anything" been easy to replace so far?

The Ebrake cables are set up in 3 parts. The first one that goes from the handle to a Y shaped coupler under the tunnel above the driveshaft. The two independant rear cables that go to each wheel connect at this Y. All you'll need is the front cable, pull it out thought the floor as the Y is going the other way. It's a awkward without pulling the driveshaft.

Stopped by the dealership yesterday and had to order the cable.
Fortunately, it will be here by noon today.

I'm taking the afternoon off to work on it.

                        More like almost impossible!!!

Got the job done in about an hour. Did remove the driveshaft. Toughest part was getting the snap collar out of the bracket under the car. Everything else was pretty easy.

nah, not impossible....... just have to jack up the car by the frame to let the rear suspension completely unload and drop as far as possible.

Glad you got it done easily.
