Winters coming, what do you do with your f-body?

Up here in the great Northeast, snow is right around the corner. I just bought as house w/ 1 car garage, but garage is not ready to store a car,yet. (the last owner used it as a workshop). So this winter I think my Z28 will be in the driveway, under its cover.
This means I'll have to clean it off every storm.

What does everyone else do with their f-body cars?
-Store em?
-Drive em?
-Wreck em? (this one i've done also, twice)

well im from toronto and my camaro has positraction so i slapped on some snows on the back and ripped through 8- 10 inch snow on bad days when the play hasnt passed by yet. plus its really fun in open parking lots oand large roads... if u know what i mean!!

Here in Lincoln I drive it same as I do during the rest of teh year. I do occasionally, after a snow, go to the lcoal power wash and clean teh bottom of teh car as best I can. On the few warm days I bucket wash it and risne it.

I guess my approach is I bought it to drive it, and since I am paying for it all year long, I might as well drive it all year long too. Have had no real driving problems in snow, but the folks in Lincoln do a great job clearing streets after snow so it's not too bad a challenge from that standpoint.

I'm in Michigan and have my car up for storage already. Its paid for a few years ago and I get a huge break in insurance if I only drive it in spring, summer and fall and is my secondary car. I have the wider 275/40ZR17 tires wich are not too bad but not ideal for winter driving. I have driven in the winter (With my 245 tires) and have traction control wich saved me a few times in the past but who wants to take off there T-tops when its cold! With all the mods I've put on my car its getting to be a good weather car. Not that I can't driving it in bad weather but it would be a shame to risk messing it up. I drive a V-6 Sunbird in the winter. I just got new tires for it!

I live in the Greater Toronto area and I have mine already in a storage unit. My wife's baby is in the garage and the winter beater (Jeep Liberty) is in the driveway.

I rent a local storage unit where the T/A just fits in. Had everything checked so nothing should freeze even if it get's below 0's.

I'm usually on the road from Sept. until end of Nov. and Feb. to April. My wife doesn't like to drive the T/A so I figure it's best to keep it in storage during the long winter in Canada.

Hope I have a dry day when I get home so I can fire it up and move it a bit around so my tires don't get flat spots.

Would like to put it on stands but don't have the necessary equipment yet.

You know after I posted it I wondered how long it would take until somebody grabs this ones and has a blast with it.

Actually the animal services would be more appropriate since it is a Jag. Not sure if the wild ones are endangered.

I drive it until the snow starts flying and then under the cover it goes until spring. To drive any vehicle thats worth anything in the snow in Rochester is insane. They rot out so fast. I see all these people driving expensive vehicles through the salt, snow, muck and water. Why dont you just pour battery acid on the paint in the summer time? You might as well be consistant! I drive a winter rat (my 91 wrangler I got for free) and this protects my investment. If you get new car every other year, I guess it doesnt matter, but I wanna hold onto mine for a while.

As soon as the first salt gets dumped on the road my car will go into hibernation in our heated garage. It's payed for and dropping the insurance 5 months out of the year helps the budget. My winter car is a 95 Skylark. The "Family Cruiser" is a 97 Blazer we drive year round. Last year a buddy let me put my old Camaro IROC in his airport hanger under the left wing of his plane. Maybe he'll offer that again this year. My car is a totally salt free Texas droptop, it would kill me to bathe it in salt. When I changed the clutch I was in awe... not a sign of rust anywhere but the rear axle housing. even the bolt heads were clean. Most of the bolts came out with my fingers after I broke them loose with a wrench. I dont get to see that very often in Wisconsin. I'm proud to own this car.

I'll miss it this winter.

Well what can I say...

I just got my Camaro, but being that it is my prize and joy and the only car in my arsenal, I am going to keep driving it back and forth to my local community college every day except for the weekends when I go shopping... I just know that when it snow, I am not going to be on the road... And if I am on the road, then SGS is going to get its share of work... and my Bosch ABS system as well...

I really am going to do like I did for the past 2 or 3 years that I have had my license in North Carolina... I am going to just do what I do best...

I just swap'em....V6 for the V8. The V6 isn't that bad in the snow.... As long as its light snow....I don't take the V6 out in 3+ inches. Work from home on the bad days....hehehe

I am looking for a 4x4 beater this year.....I'll get one!

I bought a truck today so the SS is goin to sleep soon. I drove it last year in the winter(one day of snow) and I don't want to do that again. Plus it keeps the milage down. And I can start to put mods on it without any down time without a car.

It definitely keeps the miles down. My 92z has no winters on it, and only 68,000 mi on it. I just got it last fall. I was living in an apartment, so I had to keep it covered on the street. I still took it out when the roads were dry.

When we get snow in upstate NY, it's up to your window sills, you're lucky to get it out of the parking spot. My backup ride is a '95 explorer (yes, ford) XLT. and the old lady is going to miss it this year, cause the camaro is going to see limited action.

Hope to do the exhaust this winter.
