I personally think they are a waste of money. Buy a short stick and call it a day. I got this one from UMI and am very happy. It cuts down on the sloppyness.

I have never driven or felt a pro 5.0 but i do have a B&M ripper shifter and its a huge difference over stock, nice clean smooth close shifts. It also has some adjustment like a forward and rearward bias havent ever played with the positioning but i feel like its worth the money.

I had two different "short shifters" when my car was still an M6, and they are worth every $$$$. A shorter stick is just that.... since its shorter, is appears to take less horizontal displacement to move to the next gear. A short shifter actually relocates the pivot point, so the arc the lever needs to move through is significantly reduced. Combine a short shifter AND a shorter stick, and you will not believe the difference..... snick, snick smooth as butter.

I had a Hurst Comp+, then a Pro5.0. The Pro5.0 was a work of art, and solid as a rock. With the Hurst, I had Lou's short stick, and the ball was just a couple inches above the console/boot. It was not long enough when I mounted the switch for a line lock. The Pro5.0 had a longer stick, but is had at least 2" of thread on the top, so it was easy to cut it down at least 1" for a shorter stick. Better length with the line lock switch.

I'd definitely invest in a short shifter, but have only used the 5.0, not the B&M. B&M stuff is very good... I use their Pro-Ratchet on my TH400.

I used a Hurst billet shifter with the stock handle. The short handle that came with it made my wrist hurt. I thought it was great.

I dunno I've heard mixed reviews on the Hurst shifter, anyone have anything bad to say about it ???

Just to clairfy a few things about myself, I am new to the whole V8 car thing. I have a 97 V6 and love it so now I bought a 96 V8 WS6, but my friends Focus (yes focus) shifter is much smoother and tighter and just feels better to shift than the stock one on my car. So I want to get a new shifter cause I can't have a freakin Focus being better than my car in any way at all . But my personal feelings on mods is to spend the money to get the best, or just don't spend the money.....

So lay it on me guys which out of the three is the best shifter ????

Just to be clear on the Hurst shifter there used to be a model they called the "competition +" shifter for the T56 transmission. It was replaced with the "billet" shifter. The "competition +" was OK but it was not as good as the Pro 5.0 and the B&M. Hurst redesigned it calling it the "Billet" shifter. It is every bit as good as the Pro 5.0 and the B&M. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Since they are all pretty close to the same price I think it is flip a 3 sided coin. FYI the Firehawk and SS came with a Hurst shifter but it does not have the over shift stops like the Billet does.

The SLP/factory Hurst shifter is a cheaper copy of the Comp+. The cover plate is thinner, and it uses the stock lever with the big rubber bushing on it, in addition to not having the "stops". I got one when I bought the Street Twin and T56 out of a 97 SS.

I just bought the pro 5.0. It should be installed by the end of the week. It is super heavy duty with positive stops & heavy base. It really looks bulletproof. I cant wait to beat the hell out of it! haha

If you like a really notchy shifter, go with the Pro 5.0. Felt like I was stirring rocks with a spoon when I had mine in, but you knew damn well that you weren't missing any gears with that thing.

No. They're not smooth by any stretch of the imagination. Not that the stock shifter is, but the Pro 5.0 is a little rougher. It doesn't really matter to most people. In fact, a lot of people actually prefer the rigid, notchy feeling. I guess I'm a wimp. I'd prefer the smooth shifting you get in an Audi, Miata or G35. You can shift those things with your little finger. In fact, one of my former co workers actually used to shift his Audi with one finger just to rub it in my face
