  • Valve Cover opinions

    Hey guys,

I'm trying to decide what to do about new valve covers for my Lt1 that i'm putting 1.5 crane roller rockers on. I've done some research to see what my options are, and they seem pretty limited. I understand that the stock valve covers can be cut (or at least the support structures on the inside) to fit over roller rockers; the only problem is that I think they look like junk. I was going to go with a standard SBC valve cover, but then read that they do not clear the alternator. Has anybody had any experience with the Canton Racing aluminum fabricated valve covers? Some reviews say they're great, and then others say they still don't clear the alternator and they leak. Any opinions? Is there any other options that i'm missing out on? Thanks in advance for any help!

The stockers require minimum alteration to fit full roller rockers. Just a matter of pinching a few of the brace struts, and dimpling the baffle for the PCV air supply on the passenger side.

I've some people complain about problems with roller rockers on the Cantons, possibly because they have the big, very ugly notch cut in the front for the alternator. I have also seen photos where people have ground down the bottom of the alternator to allow a valve cover without the "dent" in it to fit.

Junk??? Different strokes for different folks......

Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone by saying I don't like the stock valve covers.

      Thanks for the info injuneer!
