  • Parking Brake Diagram?

Anyone have a service manual? If so could you please scan or take a pic of the parking brake/cable diagram?

4th gen, LT1(93-97) or LS1(98-02) they are different, one use the caliper(LT1) one using a mini drum brake inside the rear rotor(LS1)

Well, I mostly need to know where the "splitter" is.. The thing that converts the single cable from the handbrake into 2 cables for each caliper/drum. Is it on the inside behind the handbrake or under the car above the driveshaft?

Also is it removeable or is it welded to the body?

The splitter is right where the driveshaft tunnel ends. It's very straight forward...just jack the car and look. Two e-brake cables will loop the diff cover. Very simple...

As for is it welded or not... I can't recall. I did a fuel pump job two days ago and well...saw it but never took notice if it's welded or not. I don't recall any bolts or nuts...so I would think it is.

I'm not real sure if it's welded on the 4th gens, but on the 3rd gens it def. is not welded.

Since I just replaced the cable recently on my 97 Z28...http://www.f-body.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20674

The main cable from the handle goes through the trans tunnel. The back end of the cable mounts/snaps into a bracket that is welded onto the underside of the car up above the driveshaft. The cable end then attaches to the "splitter" as you put it and one end goes to each rear wheel. The mounting bracket is welded to the body the splitter is not.

No adjustment on the cable itself as the handle mechanism is self adjusting.
