  • leaves in ac/heater fan

i've apparently gotten leaves from the tree by the driveway in my ac/heater fan somehow. the noise its making is annoying me to no end. i've never had a need to open it up before so don't even know how to get to it. can anyone give me some pointers and/or pics on how to get to the fan so i can clean it out. any ideas on how long it should take? thanks in advance.

This happens to me more than I care to think about. If anybody knows of A) an easy way to fix the current problem and B) a permanent solution so it doesn't happen anymore, I'd love to hear it.

This happens to me at least twice a year. I'm not sure if the blower is located at the same place as a Firebird, but mine is underneath the dash on the passenger side. There are two clips on the panel that covers access to it. Just grab some pliars and pull them out. The blower is on the right side corner and has three bolts holding it in place. Unplug the one wire to the blower and then remove the bolts. Next, slowly pull out the blower and you will see all the leaves and stuff that are making that annoying sound. Just empty it out and bolt it back in. If you need pics send me you email address and I will take some for you since mine is starting to make that sound and is probably in need of a cleaning. The whole thing takes about 15 minutes or less. It all depends on you. I don't believe there is a permanent fix. I've replaced the cowl on the outside and it still happens.
