  • Torque specs LT1 head intake etc.

I need torque specs on the heads and intake etc.

93 the manual uses torque figures but starting in 96 the method was changed to angle torque.

    93-95 is 65 in-lbs

    starting in 96:

Step 1: start with all bolts at 22 in-lbs
Step 2: short bolts turn an additional 67*º
Step 3: medium and long bolts turn an additional 80º

I found the rear head bolts under the cowl to be the most difficult to use an torque to angle gauge due to limited clearance and I reverted back to 65 in-lbs in 3 steps to make sure...... I've seen quite a few instances of the rear bolts being insuffeciently torqued causing head gasket leaks, particularly the #7 and #8 holes.

    intake manifold bolts:
    I use 71 in-lbs.

Joe, I hope you finish torquing the intake down...

      71 lb. in. first pass
      35 lb. ft. 2nd pass

Thanks i got the heads on and torqued. I got it almost back together but. As far as the valve adjustment is it 1 full turn on the rollers just like normal hyd. cams ?
I usually do them with #1 on comp and adjust half of them and then go to # 1 on overlap (#6 comp) and do the rest. 1 turn should put them at 0.100" preload.
        Is that correct?

Stock preload is up to 1 turn. Less works, too. 1/2 to 3/4 or so.
