  • 100 thousand miles on stock clutch

I have the stock clutch in my 96 z and have been powershifting it for the 104,507 miles that i have on it. Is this that i have great master skills in gear shifting. But Tuesday when i street raced a 5.0 that the guy don't know which way i went! The rearend that already has a noticable wine due to the 3.73 gear installation, got a lot louder. Two weeks ago I installed 275/40/18 nitto 555 extreme radials that allow me to come out of the hole at 2750 rpms. But this race the clutch was slipping due to the hard launch and it was gliding into the gears with no tire spin at all. To put this topic to a close i am asking advise on a good clutch upgrade and do i need a new flywheel with the clutch. And what could have caused that rearend whine to get louder after the hard launch.

    Thank's

Star phase II, with your mods.

your launch most likely increased the backlash a few thousands... enough to cause a whine increase.
