  • This folks, is why you inspect your brakes regularly

Added a new ride to the stable and spent the vacation doing mucho work on it. The rear brakes were an utter mess. The right rear didn't even have an outer pad. Check out the damage, you'll laugh your hiney off.

I've replaced my brake pads twice since new not because they where worn but the pads where cracking a bit. I have 76K and the rotors are original and still with in specs. I keep the rotors pained silver and they still look like new.

Yep looks a little rough around the edges. How can people drive around like that.

They say, oh no I never had an accident. But they don't know how many they have caused do to failed breaks.

I picked up a Quasar Blue 94 Camaro. It has me curious though.... it has roll up windows, manual cloth seats, manual mirrors, stick, hard top, what looks like huge sway bars (appear same as my WS6), what appears to be urethane bushings, cutout and man this thing corners like it's on rails. The guy I had picked it up from said he had autocrossed it. The interior was gutted, but came with the car (pretty dang dirty), had no rear brakes and with the cutout open, it was hard to hear anything. It also needed tires (go figure). I got the car dirt cheap and spent the whole vacation cleaning and assembling the interior, fixing misc broken stuff, doing the brakes (had good used stuff to swap that was left over from the T/A). Now I've got to start polishing the paint, but it will need the front bumper cover to be painted. It also doesn't like to go into 2nd gear so most likely 2nd gear syncros are shot. I got the car cheap due to the middle of a divorce and basically stole it due to circumstances.

Maybe it is a 1LE? Does it have fog lamps? Take a look at the RPO sticker in the glovebox.

I looked for the sticker and there wasn't one. There are no fog lamps, no evidence that there ever were any. I did find paperwork in the glovebox that shows the dealer added A/C for a pretty hefty sum. Do either of these mean anything? I don't know squat about 1LEs.

I think you can go to a dealer and give them the VIN and they can give you print out of what the car came equipped with. Later 1LE's may have had a/c, but I don't think the early ones did.

Those are good, but one time I saw a rotor worn into the cooling fins - no joke.

Isnt the 1LE just a pontiac thing???

Whats the camaro got for a powerplant???

Now I'm really curious. The a/c was a dealer add on unit, the car was originally no a/c. Combined with the lack of all the other power stuff and no fog lights, I'm going to have to dig into this a little further. Maybe I found a diamond in the rough. I think this out corners my WS6 and it only has the 16" salad shooters. I wonder what some sticky 17s would do. hmmmm...

Is it a Z28? If I remember right the 1LE's didn't come with A/C till it was made standard in 96. Also, no fog lights, 3.42 rear, 6 speed, and standard stereo system. Also check for the following.

                              -Basic option group (1SA)
-Higher rate front springs (360 lbs/in for mid-1994 and after)
-Variable rate rear springs (130-180 lbs/in for mid-1994 and after)
-Stiffer front and rear shocks (Koni double adjustable for 1996 and after)
-Harder bushings (front upper/lower and rear control arms)
-Larger diameter anti-sway bars (32mm front, 21mm/19mm rear)
-Increased cooling (for 1995 and after)
                              -Engine oil cooler from 93-95
-Stronger Transmission mount for 6 speed Transmission's
                              -Stiffer Panhard-bar bushings
