  • Engine Swap Question

Hey guys, I have an 88 Pontiac Formula 350 and yesterday I believe my L98 committed suicide. It's knocking loudly and I'm sure it's probably terminal. To make a long story short I was thinking about replacing it with a Pontiac 400 with a carb just for the idea of making it a Pontiac with a Pontiac Engine. I'm not concerned about going super fast, its my wifes car anyway. Has anyone ever done a swap like this ? How hard is it ? I'm sure I have to change Motor Mounts, will the 700R4 still work if I build it up slightly ? Any help would be great.

I believe the B-O-P (Buick-Olds-Pontiac) tranny bolt pattern is different than the Chevy pattern. Shouldn't be hard to find a B-O-P 700R4, though.
