  • RPM signal for Stereo HU?

    I have a new Stereo HU that shows the engine speed on it. Im curious as to where I can get this from?

    There is a wiring bus in the car that carries the pulses from the Vehicle Speed Sensor, VSS, which is in the transmission. This bus goes to the stock radio if your radio has the Speed Compensated Volume (some of the Monsoon radios have this feature) The bus also goes to the cruise control, too-

    The easiest place I have found to hook into it was at the base of the windshield, above the brake booster- you can find the wiring harness going to the cruise module-
    2001 Z28 A4 - 160 deg t-stat, 3.42 gears, WS6 sway bars, rear springs and shocks, UMI SFC's, Torque Arm and STB, leather Firebird seats, Borla, SLP Y-pipe and lid, ZO6 cam and springs - 332 RWHP and 346 RWTQ, not bad for 'almost stock' - work in progress
